Hollywood's Inspiration for Neethaane en Ponvasantham?


Here’s something interesting about Gautham Vasudev Menon’s upcoming film Neethaane En Ponvasantham that is close on the heels of completion. Having received brickbats for his couple of movies: Nadunissi Naaigal and Hindi remake of Vinnaithaandi Varuvaaya, the filmmaker keeps his fingers crossed now with the hopes of giving a best show with Neethaane En Ponvasantham that is simultaneously shot in Tamil, Telugu and Hindi. The film has Jiiva and Samantha in lead roles while maestro Ilayaraja is scoring music for the film. Here’s the latest buzz about this movie rounding upon airs that the film is inspired from a Hollywood romantic classic One Day Anne Hathaway and Jim Sturgess in lead roles. Though not completely lifted from the basic plot, the films share a similar storyline where the couples travel a long journey across years in love.

Actress Parvathy Omanakuttan Heats Up in 'Billa 2' Calender


‘Billa 2’ is a mega budget flick featuring Ajith Kumar, Parvathy Omanakuttan, Bruna Abdullah and many others. The Music is composed by Yuvan Shankar Raja. It is directed by Chakri Toleti. As ‘Billa 2’ is becoming a huge sensation, the makers have decided to release a special calender of this film. As this movie features 2 high profile models-cum-glamour queens, the makers decided to use this opportunity and make a special calender. These pictures for this calender were shot in Goa. The images of Parvathy in Bikini in the calender, does not have anything to do with her character in this film. It is to be said that, this calender would be launched by these ‘Billa 2’ Heroines in May in Chennai. This is sure to be a treat to the Thala fans. The other good news is in store for Ajith’s fans. The Audio Release of this movie ‘Billa 2’ would be held on May 1st, i.e. Thala Ajith’s Birthday. There would be no special Audio release function. More Attractions for Singam 2


The producers of Prince Pictures have made an official announcement about Singam 2. Following the tremendous success of ‘Singam’, the team is coming back together again for Singam 2. Produced at a budget of whooping amount, the film stars Suriya in lead role while Anushka Shetty and Hansika Motwani star opposite him in female lead characters. The ensemble star-cast of Singam including Nasser, Vijayakumar, Vivek and Radharavi will be playing important roles in this film. The shooting will commence once Suriya completes Maatraan and will be shot extensively in Chennai, Hyderabad, Tuticorin, Karaikkal and Tirunalveli. For the first time, Hari will be shooting some breathtaking action sequences in Africa and Kenya. Apart from Vivek, the additional attraction for the hilarious quotients will be Santhanam, who will be tickling the funny bones with this film. Devi Sri Prasad is scoring music while Priyan is handling cinematography.

With even before the first look stills of Vijay’s Thupakki would get released there have been tough competitions to bag the satellite rights of the movie. Recently Vijay Tv and Sun Tv had a battle to get the satellite rights of Nanban starring Vijay, Ileana, Jeeva, Srikanth, Sathyan, Sathyaraj which is directed by S Shankar. Finally it is Vijay Tv who won the battle and took home the satellite rights of Vijay’s Nanban for a record price. But, Sources say that this time Sun Tv is not going to make any compensation to bag the rights of Thupakki, which has Vijay and Kajal Agarwal in the lead and directed by AR Murugadoss.

Actor Simbu’s voice for Sri Lankan Tamils

Simbu, after watching the atrocities of the Sri Lankan Army on the Tamils there has said that he was shocked by what he saw. The star said that he wished that this ends soon and that his voice is for the Tamils. Appalled by the video that explicitly shows the brutal killings and the suffering undergone by the Sri Lanka Tamils, celebrities like Sangeetha, Kushbhu, Madhan Karky and others are voicing their protests and anger through the social networking sites.

Director Hari’s next a mega budget film!

Director Hari is teaming up with the Azhagar Samiyin Kuthirai producer Madhan. The two is reported to have inked the deal to work on a project. The cast and other crew have not been fixed yet. According to industry sources, this project will be a very high budget one indicating that a top star in Kollywood would be signed up. It may be mentioned here that Azhagar Samiyin Kuthirai went on to become a hit film and had also bagged two national awards. Following this, the producer intends to produce an out-and-out commercial film with all the masala ingredients that Hari is capable of including.

Even before the shooting could complete for Vijay’s Thupakki, the Hindi remake rights have been sold out it seems. Bollywood in the recent times is well known for remaking Tamil movies with top male stars of their industry. But this is an expection, that even before anything was officially released, AR Murugadoss’s Thupakki has gained huge attention all over. Already ARM’s Ghajini remake with Aamir Khan in Hindi was a terra hit. Now it’s heard that Akshay Kumar has gabbed that role of Vijay for the Hindi venture. Actor Prabhu Deva returns to dancing

Prabhu Deva, who has been out of acting for some time after getting interested in directing films, has returned to his profession _ dancing. With the shooting of his Hindi remake (starring Akshaya Kumar and Sonakshi Sinha) of ‘Vikramarkudu’ in Telugu and ‘Chiruthai’ in Tamil, is nearing completion, Prabu Deva has been cast in a UTV dance-centric film directed by ace choreographer Remo D’souza. It is titled ‘ABCD’ (Anybody Can dance). This is claimed to be the first dance film in 3D in Indian cinema. The shooting of the film started in Mumbai on March 5. Speaking about the film, director D’souza says ABCD is his dream project. He has written the script keeping Prabhu Deva in mind. The film will be an expose of sorts on the talent and skills of Indian dancers and have dazzling dance sequences. Prabhu Deva says he is happy to return to dancing. He and Ganesh Acharya are the key characters. Lauren Gottlieb, the global winner of the popular Television talent shop, ‘So you think you can dance’ plays the heroine. ‘Dance India Dance’ winners Salman Khan, Dharmesh, Prince, Mayuresh and Vrushali are central characters. “The thought of dancing with them gives me the feeling of being a student,” Prabhu Deva says. Kajal Agarwal is a happy girl these days. She has her hands full.The Naan Mahaan Alla star’s career graph is on an upswing at the moment. In Kollywood, she is working on K V Anand’s Maatran, which has Surya in the lead and A R Murugadoss’s Thuppaki,which stars Vijay Her back-to-back schedules include Special Chabbis opposite Akshay Kumar in Hindi and two projects – one each opposite Ram Charan Tej and Junior NTR in Telugu. ‘I’m excited about working with Surya and Vijay. I’m equally thrilled about working with two fantastic directors Anand and Murugadoss. The other motivating factor is that I get to play two different roles. That’s quite a challenge.’

A R Rahman to compose music for Dhanush’s film

Bharatbala is a close friend of music composer A R Rahman. It is a known fact that Bharatbala is the person who has directed all the musical video albums of A R Rahman. Bharatbala had earlier directed a film titled Hari Om. This film had participated in various film festivals and won various awards.Now for the first time Bharatbala will be directing a Tamil film. There was news earlier that this film was to be produced by Sony Pictures but now Aascar Ravichandran will be producing this film. A R Rahman has agreed to compose the music for his friend’s film which will have Dhanush in the lead role. Bharatbala always has the habit of giving importance to cinematography. Hence there is no doubt that this film will be a visual treat to the audience.

'Kanchana' goes to Kannada




















'Kanchana' is going places, literally. Rama Narayanan, who produced the Lawrence Raghavendra film in Tamil, is planning to remake it in Kannada. The veteran has confirmed that plans are also on to start the Hindi version of the eerie-comedy thriller soon.
"I had directed as many as 15 films in Kannada so far. Hence I have decided to produce and direct Kanchana in Sandalwood. Upendra is playing the lead role, while Lakshmi Rai is repeating what she did in Tamil," says the former president of Tamil Film Producers Council.
Uma Shree has been roped in to play Kovai Sarala's role, while Devadharshini will be replaced by Shruthi. It is said that the transgender character played by Sarath Kumar in the Tamil original will be done in Kannada by a popular actor there.
"Kanchana is a great success in both Tamil and Telugu. So Rama Narayanan wants to continue the success journey in other languages too. He will play a crucial role in the movie's Hindi remake also," sources say. Besides playing the lead role, Lawrence Raghavendra wielded the megaphone for the Tamil version.

'Mankatha' on August 31 - Official!











































Finally the official date of 'Mankatha's release has been confirmed, and by Dhayanidhi Alagiri himself. "Sun TV confirms the release of Mankatha on August 31!" he said.



Although the date was announced as August 31 few days back, there was confusion among fans as the film saw change of hands from Cloud Nine Movies to Studio Green and now to Sun Pictures. Cloud Nine and Sun pictures together will market and distribute this biggie, which is much-expected due to reasons many. It may be mentioned that Sun TV has also bagged the satellite rights of the film.



However, Sun Pictures are releasing the film on the promised date to fans. Fans can now watch this multi-starrer biggie on the Vinayaka Chaturthi - Ramzan weekend.



'Mankatha' is directed by Venkat Prabhu and has thala Ajith donning the grease paint in a never-seen-before sort of a baddie in this film, which is his 50th offering in Tamil cinema. He shares screen space with Trisha and it is said he cheats her in the film for money and to achieve his goal.



Playing pivotal roles are Arjun, Andrea, Premgi, Mahat, Anjali, Lakshmi Rai and many others.

Superstar Rajini Kanth who is back to chennai after undergoing treatment for kidney-related ailment in Singapore is said to take complete rest.From last 2 months Chennai based private hospital doctors are continously monitoring Rajini daily.



Doctors are on duty for regular check up of Rajini Kanth health and now doctors have certificate that the superstar is well-fit for the film shoot.It is also came known that Rajini is making a round to director K S Ravikumar's office in Ashok Nagar for discussing on Rana movie.Rajini Kanth is expecting to start th shooting of Rana in the month of October.



Rajini Kanth is waking up and undergoing meditation along with exercise and yoga.After having breakfast and in the evenings he is joyfully playing with his grand children Linga and Yathra (Dhanush Childrens).



Currently Rana pre-production works are under progress and K S Ravikumar is busy on working on the script of the film.Rana is being made as a multilingual film which is being produced by Eros International in association with Soundarya Ashwin's Ocher Studios.Rana is said to be a high budgeted film.

Suriya's Film to Beat Vijay’S Record in Bollywood
















‘Singham’ remake in Hindi is all set to make a very big record as it has predicted 95% occupancy in all multiplexes and single screens across the country. The film was a blockbuster in Tamil starring Suriya, Anushka and Prakash Raj in lead roles. Rohit Shetty made some changes to the script and has finally impressed with a trenchant mark.

The trade experts have acclaimed the film as ‘It has Blockbuster written all over it’. What makes ‘Singham’ completely different from ‘Wanted’ and ‘Dabangg’ is that the director’s ability to keep the protagonist’s role quite naturalistic rather than setting him up as a larger-than-life role.

One of the leading film critics has praised the film saying, “It’s a tribute to the Hindi actions films of late 70s’.

Prabhu Deva’s wife, Ramlath,’s hunger strike!

















It is well known that Prabhu Deva has openly announced that he would marry Nayanthara. And reports also emerged that he paid a handsome amount to his wife for mutual divorce.

However one tabloid in Chennai published a news saying that it interviewed Prabhu Deva’s wife, Ramlath, who threatened to go on a hunger strike in case he marries Nayanthara.

One does not know on how far these reports are true, but some TV channels quoted them and said that Ramlath is contemplating on doing hunger-strike and one TV channel even went further and claimed that she is also contemplating suicide(even without interviewing her)!

Sun Pictures are likely to keep themselves on the safer side now. The trade is going on perfectly as the inner reports unravel that the film has been sold nearly double the production cost. It’s time that distributors and exhibitors are likely planning to spin the profits as much as possible during the first week itself.
In a recent news, it has been mentioned that the tickets for all the three versions – ‘Enthiran’, ‘Robot’ and ‘Robo’ has been sold out within fraction of minutes.

This is the first time; a film’s booking plans have opened couple of weeks prior to the release. In Tamil Nadu and other states, several theatres have already sold out tickets for the first weekend.

A Song in Praises of Kamal Haasan






















Paramakudi No 1 is a film which has new faces in the cast. Four songs have been recorded for this film. In one of the song will depict the history of Paramakudi and also will have praises for Kamal who is the native of Paramakudi. The song with the line Kamal Sir Pirandhadu Enga Mannuda was written by Kadavul. Samuel Baby has composed the music for this song. Madhu Menon is handling the camera.

Debutant director S Saravana Perumal who has written the story, screenplay and dialogues is directing this film. Murugan and Govindaraja are producing this film under the banner Triple A. New faces Chandru, Prashanth, Mubarak and Hari are starring in this film.

The shooting of the film is to take place in and around Paramakudi. Saravanaperumal while speaking about this film said,” The film is based on the real incidents that took place between 1986 and 2010. We are trying to give a strong message to the society that how to solve a problem which has been bugging us for a long time.”

All Smiles Team 'Magizhchi'






















Known for his bio-pic on Veerappan on the small screen, director Gowthaman is all set to try his luck in cinema now. He has penned the screenplay and directed a film titled 'Magizhchi', besides playing the lead role in it.

The movie is based on a novel written by eminent author Neela Padmanabhan, a Sahithya Academy Award Winner. "It is a movie for everyone. It is one novel that impressed me and I read it over and over again. I actually spent 12 years penning the screenplay for the story," the director says.

Apart from Gowthaman, director Seeman and Prakash Raj have played important roles in this movie. "Magizhchi is a genuine record of real life that portrays affection, kindness, love and passion and very nicely upholds the now-dying values of relationships," Gowthaman says.

"The story line opens in the 13th century and touches on 1985 and 2010, thus spreading over three periods," he adds. With Anjali and Karthika playing heroines, the movie has music by Vidya Sagar.
